Peninsular Cool Highland, Pahang, Berjaya Hill
马来西亚半岛,彭亨州属,成功高原
Berjaya Hills is a
highland resort destination in Pahang near Bentong, located along Karak Highway
after Genting Highlands. Perched 820 meters high on a mountain ridge, this
integrated resort development features Colmar Tropicale - a French themed hotel
and cultural village inspired by the traditional architecture of Alsace region
in France.
The Japanese Village is also a
popular tourist attraction within the vicinity, along with a spa resort
(Chateau) and championship golf course. Perched high up among the highlands,
the weather is a cooling climate of mist and sunshine, with lush, natural surroundings
composed of rainforests and meandering valleys.
Established since 2000, Berjaya Hills is one of Malaysia's more recent hill resorts, but remains a major tourist destination for local and international visitors. Only an hour away from Kuala Lumpur by car, it shares its geographical boundaries with Genting Highlands across the Titiwangsa mountain range, presenting a convenient family retreat for the weekend in cooling weather.
The town of Bentong, a gateway to
Fraser's Hill, is located 20km north of Bukit Tinggi Resort, while Janda Baik
is a next door neighbour of Bukit Tinggi, specifically at the old town portion.
Best visited throughout the year, average temperatures range from 25-30°C at
day and 18-22°C at night.
Attraction
Japanese Village
The Japanese Village is a series of
Japan-themed attractions, spread across a garden landscape on a hill top at
Berjaya Hills, Bukit Tinggi. Located five minutes away by car or shuttle ride
away from Colmar Tropicale Resort, the village also comprises the Japanese Tea
House, Botanical Garden, Tatami Spa, Ume Tatami Suite and Ryo Zan Tei
Restaurant. Here, visitors can explore rock pools, koi ponds, flower gardens
and a Japanese tea house, which conducts a traditional tea ceremony several
times daily. Surrounded by lush rainforest, the village is also a popular spot
for bird watching, with views of the valley from strategic points along the
gravel trails.
Botanical Garden
The Botanical Garden is a nature
park situated within the Japanese Village of Berjaya Hills at Bukit Tinggi.
About five minutes away from Colmar Tropicale by car or shuttle bus, the garden
straddles four acres of highland rainforest - only the jungle floor was cleared
of its original vegetation to make way for show plants. The 1km cemented trail
meanders through the garden in a loop, beginning with a sharp descent from the
Ryo Zan Tei Japanese Restaurant at the entrance, then passing through neat
clumps of flowers, herbs and ferns spread between the footpaths and trees. Some
of the other features within the park include a jungle view deck, wooden bridge
and orchid nursery.
Organic Farm
The Organic Farm is a vegetable
plot and horticultural center hidden along a remote road at Berjaya Hills Bukit
Tinggi. It can be reached within several minutes by car, by following the road
immediately at left after the ticket booth (if coming from Kuala Lumpur or
Bentong). The farm's popularity is more attuned to Chinese tourists who are
culturally fond of fresh vegetables, usually visited as part of a group tour around
Berjaya Hills. Meant as a show farm, the crops are not usually for sale, but
visitors are allowed to eat some of the produce on-site as part of the tour
experience. The small harvest of the farm also results in an inadequate supply
for commercial retail.
Tatami Spa
Tatami Spa is a Japanese concept
spa situated within the Japanese Village of Berjaya Hills Resort Bukit Tinggi,
surrounded by lush greenery in a tranquil nature setting. Offering various
holistic health treatments, including aromatheraphy, massage, body scrub and
reflexology, the spa combines these experiences with furo, a Japanese ritual of
bathing for relaxation and rejunevation. The spa center is housed within a
two-storey bunglow, also of traditional Japanese design like the Ume Tatami
Suite, and equipped with modern amenities. A highlight here is the outdoor
onsen (hot spring) bath, housed within a pleasant rock garden facing the
rainforest.
